Is Your Website Mobile Friendly?

If you haven’t already, take your smartphone and access your business website. How does it look?

If you cringe, it’s time for a bit of tweaking. Otherwise, you risk the chance of losing a visitor’s interest and losing interest can be tantamount to losing a sale.

You may want to consider creating a website just for visitors who access it via mobile. For example, did you know that has a website built specifically for iPhone users? (If you have an iPhone, check it out). Building a mobile-only website makes it much easier for mobile users to access the information they need. For example, no more scrolling forever and ever as they look for information on a page.

You don’t need to create an entirely new mobile-only site, however. You can keep the site you have, but be sure you keep the use of flash to a minimum because some mobile devices don’t recognize flash. If an iPhone user, for example, comes to your flash site, your site will come up as a blank screen. Better to use jquery or HTML5 for your animation.

As you design your website, remember to keep the site clean and clutter-free. These look best on mobile devices.

Remember, many people are accessing their Facebook and Twitter accounts on their smartphones. Keep posting and updating with your special offers, discounts, etc. so that you’ll continue to influence their buying choices while they’re out and about.
